Guide Me (Psalm 25)

The basis of this song, Psalm 25, is a psalm that is written by someone facing trouble, in need of help, lonely and in pain, and aware of their own imperfection.  This psalm is an honest cry from a bleak place—and it is also a cry of confidence.  It is a cry that carries in it an affirmation that there is a force that is worth putting trust in.

In this short psalm the reader is guided through disorientation of pain, the affirmation of hope in the Lord, affirmation of the reality of suffering, and an overall plea for salvation.  The psalmist's requests to “guide” and “guard” are a beautiful articulation of both the desire to be led in a positive manner on the path of truth as well as an acknowledgement of the need to be kept safe from outside influences in the pursuit of truth.

We hope that this setting allows you to engage with the raw honesty of this ancient text.
